Wondering...

• why can we estimate how many troops we'll need in Iraq 6 weeks from now, but we can't get enough troops into one of our own cities 4 days (and counting) after a hurricane?
  

• why can we send "the Army you have, not the Army you want," into hostile free-fire zones anywhere in the world, but they're too fragile to ride out a hurricane alongside sick and elderly taxpayers in the Superdome, or be airlifted in when a few snipers fire at helicopters?

• why has there been virtually no mention of the coalition of the willing since W told Kerry that he forgot Poland? (By the way, where is the coalition of the able? Maybe that's the whole problem here.) Wikipedia has the gruesome statistics. Bonus W quote, from the same debate: "Our coalition is strong. It will remain strong, so long as I'm the president."

Dysfunctional. Dishonest. Sad.
