Abstaining...

from choosing the greatest film of all time. Total Film did though. They picked GoodFellas. I have no particular qualm with that -- I own the DVD and LaserDisc (!), and have seen it dozens of times. It is certainly among the best-crafted films of all time, if not quite as deep, meaningful, profound, epic, etc. as Citizen Kane, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, or the other usual suspects on these types of lists. I know this is all in fun (and advertising revenue), but why choose at all? You only get to marry one woman (at a time, except in Utah), but you can watch -- and yes, love -- many different movies without forsaking all others. (Honey, if you're reading this, I mean that in a good way -- monogamy ROCKS!)
