Believing...

the hype, mostly, about the Arctic Monkeys.

Fifth best British album ever? Ahead of London Calling, Revolver, Rubber Soul, Blue Lines, Psychocandy, Unknown Pleasures etc. (and what's up with no XTC albums on the list?). I don't know. But they're pretty good. I especially like the way the singer sounds like Ziggy Stardust without the quaaludes.

The first song I heard by them was "From The Ritz To The Rubble." Ehh. But "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" is great. It's a close cousin of "Fell In Love With A Girl" by the White Stripes or some of the better stuff by the Hives. "Fake Tales of San Francisco" is also great. Get off the bandwagon and put down the handbook.
