Section 25, The Wheel.
This was posted at postpunkjunk last week, where it was described as having a "backwards recording pulsebeat." Section 25 recorded one of my all time favorite tracks, Looking From A Hilltop, but I'd never heard this. It's an electronic dirge from 1982, with a charmingly tuneless vocal that makes Bernard Sumner sound like Perry Como. There are little blurps and gurgles on synths and bass guitar, some pseudo-philosophical lyrics about "pay the price, turn the wheel," and, yes, a backwards recording pulsebeat, all in a key so minor it could be subterranean. Best of all, it is the perfect soundtrack to mourn the bittersweet fact that I missed out on this for 24 years.
