This was when the world sat up and noticed what had been brewing for a few years on college radio and alternative stations. And in less than three years, Kurt Cobain was dead. And four years after that, naughty schoolgirl Britney Spears would dannce on the grave of everything that had been good and right about the 90's...though it would still be a little while before Billy Corgan surrendered and ended things officially.

Spot on, d.b. The world would've noticed eventually, one way or another, but Cobain towered so high above the Gavin Rossdales et al that he forced the issue.
