I'm Slowly Catching On

I always wondered how Dr. Zaius would have known that the Statue of Liberty would be the key to Taylor's destiny. After posting this picture...



...it finally occurred to me, 30~some years after first seeing Planet of the Apes, that the statue is not merely an iconic landmark recognized by Taylor, but it's a human figure, and therefore, like the doll in the cave that says "Mama!," would've been physical evidence that a pre-ape human civilization dominated the planet. Duh.

Next week: I figure out what "Rosebud" meant.
