One of my enduring childhood memories is listening to the radio coverage of Evel Knievel's attempt to jump Snake River Canyon in his rocket sled thingy. September 8, 1974. He didn't make it.
He didn't make it in this one, either. Well, he did, but he didn't exactly stick the landing. Of course, he realized that it's better theater to crash than to land successfully. And bones do heal.
One question. I've seen this clip many times, but never noticed until now: did Evel crap his pants on the landing? Check it out at about the 40 second mark. It's probably an abrasion from the asphalt, but you couldn't blame him if he did.
